Group Interests:

Our research is focused on two areas:

(i) nonlinear model-based control of complex nonlinear and distributed processes
(ii) the application of systems engineering tools to problems in biology.

The former topic is addressed with advanced simulation, optimization, and model reduction methodologies, and the problems of interest span the chemical, pulp & paper, and pharmaceutical sectors. Of particular interest are the control of distributions in particule systems.

In the area of systems biology, we bring traditional systems engineering tools (e.g., model identification, parametric sensitivity, and closed-loop analysis) to analyze complex, hierarchical biological systems. The guiding principle is that systems-level behavior can only be understood by considering systematic interactions across multiple time and spatial dimensions.

To learn more about the specifics of our research, please choose an area of interest above.
