EDUCATION

Recently, I completed a M.S. degree at the University of California, Santa Barbara. For two years I was part of a thorough investigation of a vertical comb drive-actuated analog mirror device. The project used an innovative single mask design and process flow to create a three-dimensional, rotating digital mirror. My undergraduate education was at Linfield College in McMinnville, Oregon. There I completed a B.S. degree with a double major in Mathematics and Applied Physics. Upon graduation I received the outstanding senior physics graduate award.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

I currently work for the National Reconasiance Office under the advisory of Professor Noel MacDonald. My current work is at the forefront of micro-electrical-mechanical-systems (MEMS) satisfying stringent RF and telecommunication requirements. I am exploring new capabilities for bulk silicon fabrication maintaining high throughput and an industrial approach. Each device has undergone a rigorous static and dynamic analysis before fabrication including finite element analysis in ANSYS and 3D modeling using SolidWorks and Autocad.

My graduate courses provided the necessary background in areas of applied physics and engineering including advanced dynamics, robust control and carbon fiber laminate design. Furthermore, as a member of a diverse research team, I have been exposed to many aspects of mechanical and materials engineering research. Opportunities to interact with researchers of such diverse backgrounds as engineering, development, and manufacturing have improved my inter-personal and communication skills as well as enhanced my understanding of product development.
