This simulation describes a simple polymer, modeled as two beads connected by a nonlinear spring under a 1-D extensional flow. The flow drives the beads apart, the spring pulls them together, and thermal forces drive them stochastically. Observe the effect of varying the Weissenberg number.
The premier experiment here at the Computational Laboratory is now online: Two Phase Flow fluid dynamics! Observe the effect of varying viscosities and densities between two fluids in a suspended state by controlling the parameterization of the simulation. Will the drop flow like water or stick like honey? Check it out!
