Computer Science Professors Elevated to IEEE Fellows for 2014

Three College of Engineering professors have been elevated to the status of Fellows of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the world's largest professional association dedicated to advancing technological innovation and excellence for the benefit of humanity. IEEE Fellow is a distinction reserved for select IEEE members whose extraordinary accomplishments in any of the IEEE fields of interest are deemed fitting of this prestigious grade elevation.

  • Professor Amr El Abbadi has been recognized for his contributions to the design of fault-tolerant, large-scale data management systems.
  • Professor Kevin Almeroth has been recognized for his contributions to multicast communication, wireless networks, and educational technology.
  • Professor Elizabeth Belding has been recognized for her contributions to mobile and wireless networking and communication protocols.

El Abbadi, Almeroth, and Belding are all members of the faculty of the Department of Computers Science.
