Two Professors in Technology Management
(Rank Open)

UC Santa Barbara's College of Engineering seeks two experienced professors for full-time, open-rank appointments in the Technology Management Program. Candidates will be expected to pursue cutting-edge academic research and teaching related to creating, building and leading businesses based on new and innovative technology.

Applications reflecting expertise in any of the following areas are especially welcome: new product development; business or technology strategy; operations; supply chain management; managerial decision analysis; marketing; leadership and management. Candidates with evidence of excellence in these areas of research and business education, and who have engineering training and/or entrepreneurial or management experience in a technology driven setting, will be given special consideration. A record of securing external funding for research is desirable. An endowed chair is available for a distinguished faculty appointment.

Adding to the existing Technology Management Program curriculum, we will soon launch a one-year professional masters degree in technology management for exceptional students with engineering, science, mathematics, and quantitative social science backgrounds. The curriculum will be designed to provide a strong foundation in concepts and skills critical to the management of both large and small technology companies. Admission to the graduate program will be highly selective and will draw primarily from recent graduates who have not only distinguished themselves academically but have also demonstrated a potential for technology leadership. The goal of this highly selective professional masters degree is to propel qualified technical students to successful careers in technology business as innovative leaders.

The new faculty member(s) will participate in all phases of the graduate program launch, including developing the curriculum, teaching in the program, and fostering interdisciplinary research activities across departmental boundaries on campus. Collaborations that integrate management, engineering, and social science perspectives are highly valued at UCSB.
